I started my first business, Smile Planet, in 2014. This was 8 years ago, at a time when I was not entirely sure of what can come out of it.
I knew I wanted to provide cleaning services for organizations, but when my proposals kept getting bounced from one place to another.
My pricing was terrible because I did not even know there is something called a “pricing strategy”.
Every service delivered was different from the other… service quality can be great today and tomorrow it is nothing to write home about.
The worst part of this was money. I could not account for how money was spent in the business. Payment of salaries at the end of the month was difficult. Payment of rent for the office I was using was a struggle.
Because of this I had to start borrowing, sometimes at very high interest rates just to meet up commitments.
I was in debt, my business was crashing, and there was very little I could do about it.
This was when I started attending training programs and reading books about business. I started getting exposed to people and resources that taught me a lot about how to navigate the world of business profitably.
Today, my business has 3 major arms – Smile Planet Farms, Smile Plant Cleaning Services, Smile Planet Coaching and Consulting.
